How does the bonus payment for Smart Charging work?

We charge during cheaper hours, but also when there is a surplus of energy. In doing so, we optimise across the EPEX Spot and imbalance markets. The savings achieved through this optimisation are shared with you in the form of a bonus. This bonus is displayed in the app and paid out to you once a month. As a result, you are never more expensive, and often even cheaper, than if we had charged only during the lowest-price hours.

You are eligible for a bonus if your Smart Charging session meets the following conditions:

Your departure time is at least 7 hours after your start time.

Your minimum battery level is set at 45% or lower and your maximum battery level is set at 80% or higher, or the difference between your minimum and maximum desired battery level is at least 28 kWh.

The electric car or charging station must be compatible with and controllable by us.

If these requirements are not met in advance, your session will only be optimised based on EPEX Spot prices, and no bonus payment will apply. You will, of course, still benefit from avoiding expensive EPEX hours.
